About
How it started & TKOY
My early career was in business development and sales. In the early 2000s, I moved into marketing, including roles with two agencies. Since then, I’ve spent several extended periods working as an independent consultant, combining hands-on marketing with strategic responsibilities. I have also served as a marketing and sales executive director for a healthcare company employing around fifty people.
When I began regularly using chatbots including ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot, I was struck by my own emotional reactions to some of our conversations. That sent me on an exploratory journey to understand the psychological mechanisms – and emerging research – behind these interactions. I also wanted to understand their implications for our personal lives, businesses and the relationship developing between humans and conversational AI.
What’s in the name?
TKOY – The Kindness of You.
The name came from a simple thought: kindness is something we all have within us. It seemed particularly apt at a time when we’re increasingly communicating with machines designed to respond in human-like ways.
I’m an independent consultant working at the intersection of conversational AI, consumer behaviour and marketing. Please get in touch to explore working together.
